Lipi: An Inscription Translation App

This was our final project in end of the summer school on AI provided by Nepal Applied Mathematics and Informatics Institute for Research for hackathon titled AI for Impact. There are myriad stone inscriptions that carry huge cultural and historical information about Kathmandu, Nepal and Newari community. The experts who could classify those inscriptions are declining those inscriptions are losing their information due to erosion and corrosion. So, we want to create this AI model that will be trained on available data to scan those inscriptions, extract the required information and translate them to desired language. They will also help in digitization of those inscriptions.

This project is halted as of now but is planned to start within few months. After started, it may take nearly five months for us to develop and train the model and use it on its full fleged scale.
